What you get

YouTube's figures beside RevenueCat's subscribers, and an attribution confidence that will honestly sit lower here than on the mobile-first platforms.

Setting it up

  1. Paste your TikTok account. Epoyo reads what is public and works out what you sell, who buys it and what counts as a conversion. No account is needed for this step.
  2. Connect YouTube. Authorise read access to a YouTube channel. Epoyo reads followers and interactions at the account level, and views, likes, comments, shares and saves on the individual posts it reads, and cannot publish, edit or delete anything.
  3. Connect RevenueCat. Create a v2 secret API key in your RevenueCat dashboard and paste it into Epoyo. It begins with sk_, the shape is checked before any request leaves the machine, and it is sealed before it is stored. You can optionally name a project to scope the read.
  4. Give each destination its own code. A single bio link tells you YouTube sent traffic. A coded destination per post is what lets RevenueCat report a subscription or a subscriber back against the video that caused it.

The part that catches people out

A meaningful share of YouTube viewing happens on desktop and television, where installing a mobile app is not something the viewer can do in the moment. The install, when it comes, happens later on a different device and arrives with no memory of the video.

Worth knowing about YouTube

YouTube passes a referrer more often than the others because a real share of its traffic is desktop and browser-based. It is the one platform where referrer data is worth anything, and still not worth relying on alone.

Worth knowing about RevenueCat

Mobile app installs cross the App Store or Play Store, and the store does not carry your link code across that boundary. This pair is the one place where part of the chain is genuinely approximate, and the pages say so rather than pretending otherwise.

Common questions

Why is attribution worse for YouTube than TikTok here?
Because of cross-device journeys. Someone watching on a television who installs your app the next morning breaks a chain that no link code can span.
Is a QR code worth using?
For desktop and television viewing it is one of the few things that helps, because it moves the viewer to their phone with the code intact.
